Dear Parents / Carers,

Re-opening in September 2021

Thank you to parents / carers for your continued support over the past academic year, which has been challenging for everyone. As we look ahead to the next academic year, we are hoping to return to some form of normality. As everyone is aware things can change at very short notice, with this in mind we will be keeping current procedures and routines in place when we reopen to children on Wednesday 8th September 2021.  Children will continue to be taught within year group bubbles, there will be sanitising stations in place, social distancing will be maintained, and children will be dropped off and collected from the entry and exit points. Start and finish times will continue and are set out in the table below. This will be reviewed in early September.

Start and finish times – please see the table below.

It is important that parents/carers drop off, collect their child at the start, and finish times stated below. This is to alleviate congestion.

Breakfast Club and After-School Club

Miss Adams is contacting parents / carers of pupils who are at present attending either Breakfast Club or After School Provision to determine if they will require a place from September. If you will require a place at Breakfast Club or After School Provision can you contact either the School Office or Miss Hillman by either class dojo, email admin@buckingham.hull.sch.uk, p.hillman@buckingham.hull.sch.uk, or telephone: 01482 328661. We are working towards opening up both to a limited number of children from Wednesday 8th September. Places MUST be pre-booked in advance. Breakfast Club will start at 8am. After School Club will finish at 5pm to allow for cleaning at the end of the day. It is important that you only ask for a place if it is needed.

School Uniform

All children MUST wear correct school uniform including black footwear. Note – leggings are NOT part of the school uniform at Buckingham Primary Academy.

School Uniform

  • White polo shirt
  • Black or grey trousers
  • Black or grey skirt or pinafore dress
  • BLACK footwear – from September any child arriving into school wearing trainers (on none PE days) will be provided with black footwear whilst in school.

PE KIT

Children will be expected to arrive into school wearing their PE kit on their PE day. Your child’s class teacher will notify you at the beginning of September when your child’s PE day is via class dojo. It is important that ALL children arrive into school wearing the CORRECT PE kit.

  • Navy blue shorts or navy blue joggers
  • White T-shirt
  • Navy blue sweatshirt during the colder months
  • Plain coloured trainers

Lunch times

Children will remain in their class ‘bubbles’ across lunchtime. Children who stay packed lunch will keep their packed lunch with them. Children who are free school meals or choose to order a school dinner will have a hot or a cold option. It is hoped that all year groups will be able to eat their lunch in the school dining hall. This will be reviewed at the end of August before children return in September.

Water Bottles

All children should bring in their own water bottle which will stay with them in the classroom. Flavoured water and fizzy drinks are NOT allowed. Children will have opportunities throughout the day to fill up their water bottle safely.

Speaking to your child’s class teacher

At the beginning of September, we will continue to not allow parents / carers onsite, until we have received further guidance from the government. Access to the back car park will not be permitted as the entrance will continue to be used as an access point for children in KS2 when entering and exiting the school premises.  If you need to speak to a member of staff, please telephone the Main Office, 01482 328661 or send a message via class dojo to your child’s class teacher. Staff are available at the beginning and the end of the day at the gates.

I know there is a lot of information, but our priority is to ensure the safety of children and staff when everyone returns to school in September. Please note that the above information is still subject to change depending on Government guidance and I will send out further information towards the end of August / beginning of September.

My Child at School App (Bromcom)

From September we will be introducing the My Child at School (MCAS) app. MCAS is a new app-based way to communicate with the academy and allows parents and carers to process payments, receive letters and reports, update contact details and provide consent. The app will link to a new system called Bromcom which will be used in school to record attendance, school meals, pupil progress and accurate records of pupil data which can be updated in real time by parents and carers via the app. MCAS will replace ParentPay and our current text messaging service, Teachers2Parents. Class Dojo (whole school) and Tapestry (FS1 & FS2) will remain in use.

In preparation for the move to My Child at School, we ask that all debit balances be cleared in full by no later than Friday 23rd July. All parents and carers have been sent a text today to remind them of the outstanding balance on their child’s ParentPay account and to ask that the balance be paid in full by Friday. If it is not possible for a payment to be made by Friday, then please telephone the office as a matter of urgency so that we can update our records in preparation for the move to MCAS. This will also ensure that none payment of dinner balances does not affect whether your child can access a school meal when we reopen on Wednesday 8th September.

Credit balances from payments processed against items such as dinner money, will be transferred across to My Child at School and we expect these balances to be visible as soon as the app is made available, however there may be a delay.

We ask that all parents and carers check their online ParentPay accounts to ensure that there are no funds sat in the ParentPay Credit Account. If you do have credit sat there, please either arrange to use this to process a payment against any outstanding debit balances or withdraw the credit to be refunded back to your bankcard. The credit sat in your online ParentPay Credit Account is separate to that which can be transferred to the new app and as the school is unable to see this area of ParentPay it is impossible for us to do anything with it. We advise that parents and carers do this as soon as possible, ideally before the 23rd July, as we are unable to confirm when access to ParentPay will cease.

It is our intention to provide parents and carers with log in details for the new app as soon as we are able to do so, however this may not be until later in the first week of the new academic year. If we have up to date mobile numbers and email addresses on record, parents and carers will receive either text or email communication with log in details and instructions on how to access the app. Alternatively, a letter including log in details will be issued.

As the end of the school year approaches, we hope you have a lovely summer and look forward to seeing you all in September.

Yours sincerely,

Miss P Hillman
